Whether you typically go out for New Year’s Eve or stay in, chances are, your traditions will look a little different this year. While crowded bars and large parties are off the table, there are still plenty of fun ways to ring in the new year at home.

Have a Party for Two

Who says two or three people can’t make up a party? There’s no reason you and your significant other or roommates can’t dress up in your sparkly best and have a mini party at home.

Put on your top tunes from this year, make a tray of tasty bites or charcuterie, and pop a bottle of champagne anyway. 2020 is ending, and that’s a reason to celebrate.

Experiment with New Recipes

If you need a special occasion excuse to try that new baking or cocktail recipe you’ve always wanted to, here’s your chance. If it turns out bad, there’s no one around to know! No pressure situations are the best for trying out new recipes. And if it turns out great, then you don’t have to share. Win win.

Order a Nice Takeout Dinner

Dress up, light some candles and order takeout from a fancy restaurant near you. The restaurant will appreciate your business, and your taste buds will appreciate the delicious food. Transfer the meal onto real plates instead of eating out of the to-go containers and it will almost feel like you are back in a restaurant again. Just without the waiter to refill your water glass.

Sparklers

It’s just not New Year’s Eve without sparklers. Grab a box or two and enjoy. You could even invite your neighbors to come do socially-distanced sparklers with you in the driveway.

Set New Year’s Resolutions

A quiet New Year’s Eve at home is the perfect time to reflect over the past year and look forward to the next. Think about your goals or dreams for 2021 and make a plan for achieving them. After a wild year, this New Years is all about hope and anticipation for the future.

Movie Watch Party

Is a cozy movie night more your New Year’s Eve speed? We support it. While you can’t physically gather your friends around you for a flick, you can still have a virtual watch party. Netflix has a setup for you to all watch and chat together, or you can do it the old fashioned way and just hit play at the same time. Either way, it’s a fun way to stay connected with your crew even when apart this New Year’s Eve.
