Meet the Minds Behind Woven Nook’s designs!
Kristin is one of Woven Nook’s
creative minds. We asked her a few questions about how they come up with patterns & products to sell this year, and some just so you can get to know us even better!
Q: Where did you get your inspiration for Woven Nook?
I love looking at the world around me for designs. Anything from architecture to artist Instagram feeds etc.
Q: Do you have personal favorites right now for Woven Nook?
I would say my favorite pillows are the
Mina,
Kala, the
Kennedy green stripe and then I love our
premium stretch throw blankets. Not to mention anything in our Christmas line brings me so much joy!
Q: How do you decide on the final designs each year? Is that tough? Do you cut a lot of them out?
Yes! We definitely cut some. I love letting colors drive the design. I look at yarn colors and try to decide which ones would go well together and then decide on the pattern of the pillow after. Sometimes they work out and other times we get a sample and the colors or patterns just don’t jive or sit right with us. It’s a process and you have to be willing to cut things because not everything’s going to work out. Designing is the best part of owning Woven Nook though! I love the creativity of it all!
Q: Where are your happy places? In the mountains or the beach?
Both are amazing! I would maybe say the beach though since I was born in Florida and spent many summers at the Florida beaches with family while growing up, even after we moved to Texas.
Q: What is your design styles?
I love modern. We built a home 2 years ago and built a mix of modern farmhouse/ a hint of scandanavian. But we are now building again and going much more modern/contemporary. I really love interior design and love trying new things with it!
Q: What are your favorite places to shop for home decor (outside woven nook of course)?
I love places like west elm, CB2, Article, but I also love a good deal so allmodern.com and ikea are favorites as well. I love to mix a couple expensive pieces in with the inexpensive and it elevates everything and makes the inexpensive things feel nicer as well.
Q: What's one thing you can't live without? Diet Coke? Daily Naps?
Anything will do! Art in some form! I love painting (watercolors, gouache, acrylics etc), I love to sew and create dresses and things for my kids, I love interior design and watching things I see in my mind come to life. Art is often my go to stress reliever and I love it! It fuels my soul and brings me so much joy!
